NewsDiablo 3 confirmed for Xbox 360 release, coming to consoles in September
We've known for a while now that Diablo 3 was coming to PlayStation consoles, but in a surprise announcement today, Blizzard confirmed that the action RPG would also be released on Xbox 360. The console version of Diablo 3 will be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3.
As previously detailed, the console versions have been custom-tailored for console controllers, with an all-new user interface. It features up to four player same-screen local cooperative or online over PSN and Xbox LIVE. Pre-ordering either version will net you an exclusive in-game item: the Infernal Helm.
"Playing Diablo 3 on a big screen with your friends brings a whole new level of intensity to the game, and with all of the control and interface adaptations we've made, it's extremely fun to play on PS3 and Xbox 360," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. "In addition to the fine-tuning we've done for the console versions, we're also including major content and design updates we've made to the PC version over the past year, so players can expect an epic Diablo gaming experience when the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions launch in September."
Diablo 3 was also announced for the PlayStation 4 back in February, but no release date was given as we still do not know when the actual PS4 console will launch. There was no word as to whether the game will also appear on the Xbox One.
