NewsFIFA 14's fancy Ignite Engine powers only Xbox One and PS4, not PC
EA's Ignite Engine, the fancy new tech shown off during the Xbox One event, will only power EA Sports games on next-gen consoles. And despite the fact that PC's will always be more powerful than consoles, EA has confirmed only the Xbox One and PS4 versions of FIFA 14 will be powered by Ignite.
"Clarification for the PC related questions earlier," FIFA community manager Rob Hodson wrote on Twitter. "EA Sports Ignite will power FIFA 14 on Xbox One and PS4, not PC."
No further explanation was offered. This really shouldn't come as much of a surprise to the PC crowd; for many years the PC version of FIFA has shipped without the features found in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The Ignite engine looks to offer AI with more "intelligent decisions" and "human-like reaction times." Ignite is said to "computer four times more calculations per second than previous consoles" while bringing "10 times more animation depth and detail."
FIFA 14 was announced for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC last month. We now know it will release on PS4 and Xbox One with the brand new Ignite Engine.
