Payday 2 no longer limited to digital download only

The future of game releases may one day be digital-only, but for the time being I will embrace the current retail business model. As will 505 Games and Overkill Software who were "pleased" — PLEASED, I tell you — to announce that Payday 2 is no longer JUST a digital download. The sequel to 2011's Payday: The Heist will also be availble at retail on Xbox 360 and PS3, the publisher said. The PC version of Payday 2 will remain a digital-exclusive, however, and will be available through Steam.

"We have a bit of a problem here at Overkill – there are just too many great ideas and none that we were really happy to throw out – so Payday 2 has become just too big to reserve release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network alone."

Some new features to Payday 2 include a skill and progression system, four different professions with their own unique abilities, and four-player co-op.

Unfortunately, no exact release date was given. Payday 2 is still set to launch sometime in August 2013.
