Dark Souls 2 developer putting 'more care' into PC version

Yui Tanimura, the director of Dark Souls 2, admits that the PC port of the previous game "was not very well done" and "sort of half-assed." That won't happen again.

Last year, Tanimura took over for former director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who worked on the original Dark Souls, so he has a fresh perspective on the action-role-playing game series.

Developer From Software is being more careful now.

"Yes, we will definitely put more priority on the PC," said Tanimura. "Last time, we started working on PC after the console version was complete. This time, because we are considering the PC from the beginning, you can be sure there will be more care put into PC development."

The company's revised strategy might lead to more sales than before. The first Dark Souls tallied over 300,000 downloads, according to Namco Bandai vice president Carlson Choi.

Unlike its predecessor, which arrived late on the PC front, Dark Souls 2 is launching simultaneously on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC next year. We saw our first 12 minutes of gameplay yesterday.
