NewsDiablo 3 patch 1.0.8 focuses on multiplayer improvements
Diablo 3's incoming 1.0.8 patch will focus on improving the multiplayer experience. Speaking on the game's official blog, senior technical game designer Wyatt Cheng admitted the co-op experience is "not living up to its full potential. Even if you enjoy playing with your friends, it can often feel easier and more efficient to play solo." To rectify the situation, Blizzard will be implementing a bunch of changes in the 1.0.8 patch that they feel will help achieve their multiplayer goals.
For starters, Blizzard will be adding a bonus for playing in multiplayer, although they are still working out the details as to what that buff will be. They are currently looking at 10% more XP per player in the game for a maximum of 30% in a 4-player game. Monsters' health will also be getting a slight nerf. Rather than the 70% extra health per additional player in the game, enemy health is being reduced to 50% per player.
Other changes are being included to simplify the process of playing with others. This includes speeding up identifying items, private chat, and combat alters. The latter is an automatic notification will be sent out to the entire party when someone encounters an Elite pack or Treasure Goblin.
"This is just a snapshot of the improvements coming in 1.0.8, and you'll be able to test out these changes and more before they go live by hopping onto the PTR," Cheng concluded. For the full list of incoming changes for 1.0.8, check out the official blog post.
