NewsChris Avellone added as Torment: Tides of Numenera stretch goal
Torment: Tides of Numenera has already tripled its Kickstarter goal of $900,000. So anything that's pledged will only go towards the game's stretch goals, which expanded today to accommodate Chris Avellone. Who's Chris Avellone you ask? The original lead designer of Planescape: Torment
Now, inXile Entertainment is looking to bring him in to the design team for Torment: Tides of Numenera -- if the crowd-funded game reaches the $3.5 million stretch goal. For the record, the current pledge amount is just over $2.9 million and we still have 14 days to go. Considering the game was funded in just six hours, I expect we'll reach this goal.
But why is Avellone important to the design team? Well, for starters Planescape: Torment is the inspiration behind Torment: Tides of Numenera. Wouldn't you want the original lead designer of the inspiration to have some say in the design? That's exactly what Avellone would do; he would provide feedback on all creative elements of the game, including story, characters, and areas. He'll also be designing and writing an eighth companion for the game, working with creative lead Colin McComb and Monte Cook (Numenera) to craft a companion ideal for Torment.
If you want to see Chris Avellon join the inXile team and work his magic with Torment: Tides of Numenera, pledge at the game's Kickstarter Page.
