NewsEA unable to grant refunds for SimCity digital purchases
If you bought the always-on SimCity digitally, you won't have any luck getting a refund from Electronic Arts.
"Regarding recent confusion: In general we do not offer refunds on digital download games," came a tweet from the Twitter account for EA's online game service, Origin.
This expands on the previous announcement that EA would not ban players for requesting refunds. It asked customers to review the company's policy, which contains regional guidelines.
Due to the severe launch problems with Origin's servers for SimCity, the publisher has suspended all marketing campaigns for the game.
This comes after Amazon, which holds a similar digital-refund policy as EA, disabled its PC downloading option for SimCity. However, the purchasing method seems to be active again — despite the one-star rating.
EA has also temporarily removed "noncritical gameplay features" in an attempt to stabilize the servers.
