NewsThe next Assassin's Creed is called Black Flag, and it's all about pirates
Thanks Disney, for killing my love for pirates with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Excuse me if I don't sound too excited for what I'm about to reveal, but my strong dislike for Johnny Depp is too much to bear. The next Assassin's Creed game will be all about pirates -- at least, that's what I gather from some leaked marketing materials sent over to Kotaku.
A leaked poster, which will supposedly be on store walls on Monday, March 4, shows a white-hooted assassin -- presumably the protagonist of Assassin's Creed 4 -- on a pirate ship, fending off some scruffy-looking pirates. There's a black flag in the background which is fitting considering the game is titled Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.
The poster seems to fall in line with what a Redditor claimed he saw earlier this month.
"I was on a flight where the lady in the row in front of me was working on a powerpoint presentation on marketing strategies of several gaming titles. And one that stood out the most was AC4: Black Flags, aimed for release 2013 Holiday season according to her slide. It already had a cool looking logo for it."
Given that Ubisoft already has the sailing and naval combat technology from Assassin's Creed 3, this should've been expected. Come on, Ubisoft. Pirates are so early-2000s.
