NewsSimCity Mac version releasing in spring 2013
EA and Maxis have confirmed that a Mac version of SimCity will be available in spring 2013 with pre-orders becoming "available soon."
Community Manager Michael Donahoe noted that this isn't a Mac port, but rather a full native version that runs on the Mac OS. "Because of this, we want to take the time to ensure that Mac fans will get a version worthy of their platform," he said.
The Digital Deluxe version, which includes three European-types of buildings (and received a trailer today), will be offered for Mac, as well as the Limited Edition, though they will only be available as a digital download.
Donahoe also explained that all players will be using the same servers, regardless of platform. PC and Mac users can both play with one another and will be part of the same world.
No particular Mac specs were detailed, but Donahoe noted that the team is aiming to make the game "as accessible as possible". With that, any user with Snow Leopard and a Core 2 processor will be able to enjoy SimCity for Mac. As always, we'll be sure to update you when we hear more details.
