ShootMania Storm release delayed until April
Ubisoft has delayed the launch of its online multiplayer first-person shooter, ShootMania Storm, until April 10, 2013. The delay allows for the game to enter an Open Beta phase, starting February 12, which will provide the developers with important community feedback.
“Nadeo’s model of development has always been to be very close to the community,” said Anne Bondel-Jouin, Managing Director of Nadeo Live. “Following the release of the Beta 2 in December, we received a tremendous amount of information from the very active ShootMania community. For a living, online multiplayer title like this the work is never done, but these extra few weeks will allow us to polish the game further and release it to the level of quality we think our players deserve.”
ShootMania Storm aims to put players at the center of their gaming experience. According to the latest reports, players have created more than 15 game modes and over 20,000 maps using ManiaPlanet's proprietary map editor. Additionally, ShootMania has lofty goals to take the eSports scene by storm. In March, the game will be included at PAX East and will return to Las Vegas with IPL 6.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again, I'd rather a developer take their time with a game to ensure a stable, quality release.
