Epic Mickey 2 sales are quite low compared to the first game

Reports indicate that Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two only managed to squeeze out 270,000 sales by the end of 2012. When compared to the original Epic Mickey, which was a Wii exclusive, this is pretty darn low.

To put things into perspective, the first game launched on November 30, 2010 and hit 1.3 million sales by the end of that year. Epic Mickey 2 launched for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Wii on November 18, 2012 and only made a fraction of what its predecessor earned in terms of sales in an almost equal amount of time on a single platform.

These sales numbers could be indicative of the reaction to the first game, which was quite middling. Players weren't too happy with it, so it would make sense that the sequel wouldn't be as hotly anticipated and garner as much financial success.

Lead designer Warren Spector previously stated that he would like to keep the Epic Mickey franchise going. With such a decline in sales for the series, it's hard to see that really happening. To be quite honest, I have to say that's probably for the best, especially considering how the last game turned out. But hey, at least Disney Infinity looks really cool!
