NewsBrett Ratner's 'Hercules' set for August 8, 2014 release
Paramount Pictures announced that Brett Ratner's upcoming Hercules film, starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, will be released on August 8, 2014. The film, which should start production later this year, is an adaptation of Steve Moore's graphic novel "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" -- a darker tone for the character.
Dwayne Johnson is starring as Hercules, "the mercenary who turned his back on the gods following the loss of his family, finding solace only in battle." Currently, there is only one other film scheduled to be released that week, but it's a doozy -- Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson is in almost every film being released for the foreseeable future. He's starring in upcoming releases Snitch (2/22), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (3/29), Pain and Gain (4/26), and Fast Six (5/24).
You may know director Brett Ratner as the man that helmed two funny Rush Hour films and then a lackluster third, the under-appreciated Red Dragon, The Family Man, and then ruined the X-Men movie franchise with X-Men: The Last Stand. He is one of the directors of the upcoming comedy starring every actor in the world Movie 43.
