NewsNintendo 3DS sells 1.25 million more units
Nintendo's 3DS continued its impressive run, racking up another 1.25 million sales in December 2012. This brings the life to date sales total in the U.S. to 7.7 million. Nintendo noted, the 3DS continues to outpace the already historic sales rate of its predecessor, the Nintendo DS.
Not only is the console selling well, but its games are as well. New Super Mario Bros. 2 became the fourth Nintendo 3DS title to surpass 1 million units sold in the U.S., joining Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. New Super Mario Bros. 2 has now sold more than 1.45 million units life to date.
All in all, Nintendo sold more than 2.65 million hardware units (460K Wii U units sold) in the United States in the month of December. 2012 marked the 11th consecutive year that Nintendo has sold at least 8 million hardware units in the U.S.
