Earlier today, PlayJam's Kickstarter for the GameStick, a new portable Android-based console, was briefly taken down because of a copyright infringement. The was because of the inclusion of a title in their UI demonstration as a placeholder. Although it was purely pre-production design prototyping, PlayJam never received permission to use the company's title. When it was all said and done, the issue was settled quickly and the Kickstarter is now operating again.

PlayJam issued a statement to backers, briefly explaining the situation:

“Creating a product that meets high expectations of a company and of the end users can be a very big project. GameStick has worked around-the-clock for months to be able to deliver a product we're proud of and certain will be regarded by gamers everywhere."

"As we launched on Kickstarter, we made a small oversight in one of our promo videos hosted on our campaign wherein we overlooked a game image in the video that wasn't cleared for exposure," PlayJam explained. "To give Kickstarter credit, they look out for the intellectual property of others. They were alerted to this game in our video and immediately hid our campaign from the public."

"Once we learned what the intellectual issue was, we quickly removed the video and within two short hours we are now back up and running. GameStick certainly wants to be a team player in the games industry and by no means do we want to showcase any game or product that isn't cleared first. The GameStick community of backers, supporters and fans have been absolutely incredible. We're happy to have the campaign up and running again and we're positive that we can reach those stretch goals soon and offer an even better gaming experience through GameStick.”

GameStick was officially unveiled last week and in just 30 hours it received it met its funding goal. New stretch goals have been setup allowing for alternate console colors and the inclusion of a MicroSD slot. Today, the company also announced GameStick will support the full-analog Throttle Atlas Bluetooth controller.
