NewsComedy Central picks up Drunk History
As a historian, friends and family have a tendency to share everything with me that is both hilarious and historic. By this criteria alone, it is safe to say I knew about Derek Water’s Drunk History in its early stages – I was an instant fan. I mean, what isn’t there to like about intelligent people getting absolutely lit up and then trying to recall historic events? The only way they could make this better would be if they had celebrities reenact the madness in the stories told. THIS, is Drunk History.
When your producers are Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, you know you have something hilarious from the get go. Comedy Central has gone and picked this up for their network. On the subject of Drunk History, McKay had this to say: “Will and I have always believed booze brings out truth. Sometimes that truth involves hitting on airport bar janitors or eating cheese fries at 4 a.m. But in this case, we hope that truth will shine on our nation’s history. As they always say…History, like revenge, is a dish best served drunk.”
To be fair, if you want a person at their most honest they better be drunk or have their life threatened. They went for the easier, more legal (if controlled) option. No other information is available on the topic yet, but you better believe I’m excited for this. The frist episode of the web series is below:
