NewsDisney sets a release date for Cars spin-off 'Planes'
Since the not-so-subtle hint in the Cars Mater short Air Mater, I've anxiously awaited more news on Disney Pixar's Planes movie. There was a teaer released earlier this year, but nothing really since then. However, last week it was reported that Disney is aiming for an August 9, 2013 release date for the Cars spin-off, titled Planes. The film follows in the tracks of Cars, centering on an animated fleet of planes, jets, and stealth fighters. Jon Cryer from Two and a Half Men is voicing the film's lead role of Dusty Crophopper. Another seasoned voice actor -- Carlos Alazraqui from Reno 911! and Happy Feet -- is listed as voicing El Chupacabra.
My son is obsessed with the Cars movies and shorts, toys, books, and pretty much anything Cars related. While I'm not ready to buy all of the inevitable merchandise associated with Planes, I'm curious to see how everyone will like it. It's the first real spin-off from Pixar, and though I've enjoyed all of their movies, many critics wonder if the studio has lost their magic for making amazing movies.
Below is the teaser for Planes. Enjoy.
