Hugh Jackman to reprise role as Wolverine in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

It looks like a family reunion is in store for the next X-Men film. With Bryan Singer back in the director's chair after X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn switched to be the film's producer, Singer has brought back a lot of the actor's from the X-Men films he directed in the early 2000s. The storyline of Days of Future Past includes time travel, so there's been a ton of speculation as to whether characters and actors from the original X-Men trilogy would be in the film. So far, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will be reprising their roles as Charles Xavier and Magneto, alongside First Class stars James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.

Add one more to that list — hot off a brilliant performance in Les Miserables, Hugh Jackman will be playing Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past. After just a brief cameo in First Class — albeit a funny one — Jackman appears prime to return Wolverine to an X-Men film. The last time we really saw him in action was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and I'd like to forget about that one. He does have another standalone Wolverine movie coming out — The Wolverine in 2013. For what it's worth, Famke Janssen (Jean Grey in the X-Men trilogy) is set to have a cameo in The Wolverine

I'm curious to see how the continuity holds up, something that's been an issue between the first three X-Men films, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and X-Men: First Class. Plot holes are unavoidable at this point, but I'm sure Singer and Vaughn will do their very best to make it all work.

Days of Future Past is set for a release on July 18, 2014, so there's plenty of time to get more cameos in there. Maybe fix what X-Men: The Last Stand did to Cyclops.
