NewsNew Zealand opens a functioning Hobbit pub for the public
As if waiting just a few more days wasn’t torture enough to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey wasn’t enough, now New Zealand has upped the ante just THAT much more. ‘The Green Dragon’ is a pub that is now open in New Zealand which recreates the same sort of drinking establishment found in the Lord of the Rings films.
If you’re thinking that this pub had to be opened in Hobbiton, you’d be absolutely correct. This tourist village downright needed this watering hole. Russell Alexander, manager of The Green Dragon, has predicted that a solid 100,000 visitors will visit his bar within the next year. This number is based on the mere fact that in the last decade over 300,000 people have visited Hobbiton. I mean, if you’re there already, why not stop for a good ole’ brew?
I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t want to be one of those 100,000 visitors. Just LOOK at that place! I can’t decide if I find the interior or exterior more amazing. New Zealand has been on my list of ‘places I’d like to visit’ for some time now, this whole Hobbit craze certainly puts one more feather in the cap of desire towards this country.
Well played, New Zealand. Well played.
