News'Hunger Games' spoof finds its Kantmiss Evershot
I bet no one saw a spoof of The Hunger Games coming. Leave it to Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer — the duo behind great thespian films like Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck — to poke fun at Katniss Everdeen and company. Their spoof is called The Starving Games, and it not only makes fun of The Hunger Games, but The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and the final Harry Potter film, as well.
The film's lead is Kantmiss Evershot (real clever...), and actress Maiara Walsh (Switched at Birth) was just cast in the role. She joins Brant Daugherty (Pretty Little Liars) as the spoof version of Gale in what is becoming an ABC Family reunion.
I'm going to be honest — I hate films like this. Ever since Scary Movie 2 I've hated them. I don't think they're funny, clever or worth my time. But someone is seeing them and spending their money on them, and that's why we keep getting them. I'd much rather just watch the parody as a five-minute SNL sketch than a full movie.
