NewsThe Last of Us comic delves into Ellie's past
Developer Naughty Dog and publisher Dark Horse Comics have partnered to create a miniseries called The Last of Us: American Dreams.
The four-issue comic, which explores Ellie's backstory, was announced at New York Comic-Con. It's a collaboration between the game's creative director, Neil Druckmann (who's helping to pen the comic); artist and writer Faith Erin Hicks (Demonology 101); and colorist Christina Strain (Runaways).
"I wanted to see a story that can stand on its own," said Druckmann on the PlayStation Blog, "The other cool thing is that working on the comic book has helped me develop more of Ellie’s backstory. Because we haven’t finished the game yet, we’ve been able to weave some of those threads into the story of the game. So there are certain parts as you play the game, if you’ve read the comic book, you’ll understand what Ellie’s referring to or have a deeper understanding of what made her make that decision.”
Dark Horse is also publishing an art book for the game, which debuts alongside the game next year. The comic book is slated for a spring release.
