I think we can all agree Microsoft's usage of "Microsoft Points" as a payment system is pretty stupid. It took a while, but it looks like Microsoft has finally come to the same conclusion. A new report from The Verge claims that Microsoft has started to remove its virtual "Points" currency and added the option to pay using real-money transactions with credit cards.

The changes have apparently been made with the Windows 8 beta program, but The Verge believes the official change will be implemented on Xbox 360 with a new dashboard update due out later this month. The Windows 8 operating system is set to release on October 26.

I'm sure for many this is a welcomed change. Prior to using real-money, users had to transfer real money into Microsoft Points. The rate was $1 for 80 Microsoft Points. Why they chose such a random number is beyond me, but alas, it all looks to go away soon!
