In case you wanted to play a slightly different version of Cave Story on your 3DS, one is landing on the eShop next month.

This version is not the same as Cave Story 3D — it's essentially Cave Story+ without the HD art and music that came to Steam. This one features sprites multilayered in 3D, extra challenge modes, and widescreen.

The game will be available on October 4 for $9.99.

A 2D version is also coming to DSiWare.
