The Wii U will release on November 18, 2012 in the United States, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime announced at the Wii U preview event in New York City today. The official announcements ends months of speculation surrounding the price and launch info. As expected, separate bundles for the Wii U were announced.

The two models include the Basic Set and Premium Set — exactly the same as previously revealed in the Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation last night. The Basic Set, which includes the white Wii U with 8GB of memory will cost $299.99. The Premium Set will cost $349.99 and includes the 32GB black Wii U along with a copy of NintendoLand.

Both sets will include the Wii U console, GamePad, AC adapter for each, the Wii U sensor bar, and a high-speed HDMI cable.

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised with the price. I, along with many others in the industry, felt the Wii U would be best priced at $250. I think $300 starting off is a little much to ask for from consumers. Back in June, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said Nintendo wouldn't make the same pricing mistake with the Wii U as they did with the 3DS. He said Nintendo was seeking a "reasonable" price for their new console.

So I ask you, is the Wii U's price reasonable or did Nintendo make another mistake?
