NewsAssassin's Creed Utopia announced for iOS and Android devices
Ubisoft today revealed a new Assassin's Creed mobile game for iOS and Android devices. Assassin's Creed Utopia is a new strategy game that is more reminiscent of Age of Empires than an Assassin's Creed game.
The game kicks off in 1586 where you are tasked with establishing one of the first colonies in the New World. Over the next 150 years, leading up to the American Revolution seen in Assassin's Creed 3, you will improve the colony's defenses while developing the guild of assassins that keep watch over it.
In addition to the city-building aspect, you must also have to defend it from invaders. These battles will take place in a 3D environment. Assassin's Creed Utopia will also have multiplayer features allowing you to battle friends in asynchronous battles, or team up with them to take on huge armies and deadly foes.
While the setting and time period lays the foundation for Assassin's Creed 3, the story itself has nothing to do with the upcoming console game.
The game will be free to download, but unlike most free-to-play games, there is no energy system or cooldown timers restricting your gameplay. Rather, you can speed up building times by buying boosts with real-world cash. You can also buy extra characters — of which there are over 100 different ones — and items.
No release date was announced, but with Assassin's Creed 3 due out on October 30, you can expect Assassin's Creed Utopia sometime around then.
