NewsSimCity coming to Mac in February 2013, PC beta announced
EA's new city builder, SimCity, has been announced for Mac computers. It will be available as a digital download via Origin in February 2013.
On top of that, the Mac version of SimCity will be the same game as the one PC users play, meaning the same deep, rich gameplay will be available with the brand new multiplayer option allowing for competitive or collaborative gameplay.
“Whether you owned a Macintosh or a DOS PC, we all have memories of laying down zones and reticulating splines from our youth,” said Lucy Bradshaw, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Maxis Label. “To the millions of SimCity fans out there, we’ve been listening and can proudly say that your calls have been answered. SimCity has a long legacy on the Mac and the team at Maxis is ensuring that it will be the deepest, richest and most accessible SimCity game yet.”
In addition to news that Mac users can play the game, EA announced that beta signups for SimCity have begun. You can head over to the game's official web site to sign-up for the beta. Participants who are accepted will have a chance to play SimCity on PC before it ships in February. If chosen, you can help improve the development of the game by providing feedback.
For those looking for a quick hands-on, and find themselves at Gamescom, you can take on the new demo and experience SimCity World, the new feature set that allows players to boast about their progress through CityLog, compete in Global Challenges, compare their accolades in Leaderboards and affect the global economy in the Global Market.
