NewsSorry Lions fans, John Madden himself has just cursed your Madden NFL 13 cover athlete
Sorry Lions fans, but consider Calvin Johnson's season over before it even started.
As if being voted on the cover of this year's Madden NFL 13 wasn't bad enough, legendary NFL player, coach, announcer, and appointed-curse has just jinxed Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, John Madden said the Madden NFL game franchise is not "cursed" despite the string of injuries, contract disputes, and overall down seasons that hit the players who have been featured on the cover of the games throughout the past 13 years.
"I was on the cover for several years, and I never once even pulled a hamstring," joked Madden.
"It's a violent sport. Injuries are going to happen," he defended. And then he dropped the Madden bomb.
"If there was such a thing [as a curse], you couldn't ask for a better man to prove that wrong than who we've got this year," he stated, challenging and effectively cursing him.
"He might be as close to indestructible as we've ever had on the cover. Maybe I shouldn't say that...that might...I'm not going to talk about that any more."
Are you kidding me, John!? You already did! The only thing more powerful than the cover of Madden NFL is John Madden, himself.
Let's just see how "indestructible" Calvin Johnson will be...
