Lynn Cohen joins cast of 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' as Mags; close to casting Finnick Odair
Another big character in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has been cast. Lionsgate has announced that actress Lynn Cohen is going to play Mags in Catching Fire. Mags is a former mentor to Finnick Odair — a role that hasn't been cast yet — and an 80-year-old Hunger Games victor from District 4.
Lynn Cohen has appeared in a wide array of films, from Munich to Sex and the City. As for Finnick Odair, it looks like actor Sam Claflin is close to getting the role, but that's been said about other actors too. Sam Claflin has been in Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The problem I'm finding is that Finnick is supposed to be tall, built, tan and handsome. So far, none of the actors linked to the role have been matching the description. Sam Claflin might have the chops to pull off the role rather well, though.
The synopsis for the second installment in the Hunger Games franchise (from Lionsgate) is:
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire releases on November 22, 2013.
