As it was rumored yesterday, Bryan Singer confirmed that the next X-Men film with be called X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Speaking with IGN, Singer also confirmed that Matthew Vaughn will be directing. Singer said:

It's being written right now and it will start shooting in a few months [...] It's going to be very ambitious; it's called Days of Future Past and it deals with aspects of that comic but also some very new things. I don't want to give any of it away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing and I'm totally excited about it.

Director/Producer Bryan Singer also said that "I think there's a strong desire to broaden out the universe. I mean, the X-Men universe is every bit on its own as big as the Marvel universe, and I think it's time to reach out and explore it and perhaps bring some connectivity between the films."

Days of Future Past is a comice from 1981 that had Kitty Pryde visited by her future self and warned that the upcoming murder of Senator Kelly would lead to a future where mutants were in concentration camps and were guarded by Sentinels. I think it's fair to assume the parts of the story that will be in the movie are with the going back in time to warn the X-Men and that there will be Sentinels... which has me very excited.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

But with so many problems in the X-Men timeline that the first three movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and First Class presented, will Singer and Vaughn be able to bring the movies together? Will we see Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde? Will Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart be in the same film as Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy? Will we finally see Cyclops not get sh*t on by the script? Also, give us Bishop. And Gambit... didn't get enough of him in the Wolverine movie.

What do you think?

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for a July 2014 release.
