I have to admit that I hated Final Fantasy XIV when I initially played the game during its release. Everything about it was either broken, or just poorly designed. It was comforting to know I wasn't the only person who thought this way, as Square Enix allowed the game to go essentially 'Free to Play' while they worked on reworking the game from the ground up.

While the game is back in its pay to play format, Square is still hard at work for the game's official re-release. FFXIV's new design was originally refered to as Version 2.0, but will now be known as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which is a fitting name due to the nature of the game's complete overhaul.

“Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new FINAL FANTASY XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the FINAL FANTASY series. I hope you’re looking forward to it!” said Naoki Yoshida, producer/director of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

A new website which is dedicated to A Realm Reborn has went live today, so if you want to catch up on the incredibly amount of Lore on the realm of Eorzea, make sure to head on over there.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to come back to all those changes. After all, it might just make FFXIV be exactly what I hoped it would have been from the start.
