NewsResident Evil 6 has over four hours of cutscenes
We already know Resident Evil 6's campaign is going to be incredibly long. Recent statements from producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirm that each individual campaign, of which there are three confirmed, is "probably around 70% to 80% of the volume of the whole game in Resident Evil 5.
So it should come as no surprise that a game of this length features four hours of full-motion video cutscenes. That's right, the precise time is 4 hours and 15 minutes, courtesy of the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) which is the UK's equivalent of the ESRB here in the United States.
For comparison sake, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 4 both feature about one hour of cinematics each. Let's take into account the three separate campaigns that are playable in Resident Evil 6, and the rumored 4th campaign that features Ada Wong, and it comes out almost the same - about one hour of cinematics for each campaign in the game.
Is it too long? One of the big complaints of Resident Evil 5 was that it was much longer than it needed to be. Will that be Resident Evil 6's downfall? Hopefully the separate campaigns will help break the monotony and provide for some exhilarating gameplay and storytelling.
