Watchmen’s Dave Gibbons creating a game with Broken Sword developer

Comic book illustrator Dave Gibbons is collaborating with Revolution Software, makers of the Broken Sword series and Beneath a Steel Sky, on a new adventure game.

Gibbons will be involved "from the ground up" and will direct the game's look, according to Eurogamer. The Watchmen artist didn't reveal any specifics, but said "it will look like a Dave Gibbons game."

"It's going to be something that combines a lot of the things I'm perhaps best known for, which are a design sense and a sense of symbolism and maybe an obsessive attention to background detail," he said.

The artist has worked on video games before, consulting on the Watchmen: The End Is Nigh downloadable and contributing to both Beneath a Steel Sky and Broken Sword: Director's Cut.

Gibbons is looking forward to teaming up with Charles Cecil of Revolution Software once more.

"We're developing something — I really shouldn't say anything more about it — but it's something I'm quite excited about and it's in an area I don't think has been explored, and it isn't France, and it isn't Paris and it isn't catacombs," he said.

The pair will begin developing the game once Gibbons finishes the comic book Secret Service with Mark Millar and Cecil completes the to-be-announced addition to the Broken Sword series.
