Tom Bissell and Rob Auten are replacing Gears of War 3 scribe and science fiction author Karen Traviss as writers of Gears of War Judgment.

Bissell wrote Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter and the Gears of War 3 art book that accompanied the Collector's Edition. He's also collaborating with actor Greg Sestero to pen a book about the film The Room.

Auten worked as a consultant for Twentieth Century Fox and helped with titles such as James Cameron's Avatar and two Aliens games.

Bissell and Auten may be a step up from previous writer Traviss, who posted on her blog, "I'm a writer who doesn't read novels, and not just because of time, or fear of ideas contamination, but because I just don't like doing it." Not very encouraging.

Gears of War Judgment is expected to release for Xbox 360 in February 2013.
