Nintendo has admitted, on numerous occasions that they made a mistake with the 3DS' initial price, a mistake that the company says they won't repeat with the launch of the Wii U.

The Wii U, which was announced in 2011, was Nintendo's main focus at this year's E3, with the company emphasizing the system's launch titles. While they unveiled the official GamePad tablet's features along with new titles, Nintendo continues to refuse to announce a price for the Wii U.

While consumers fear the Wii U will be priced out of their budget, Nintendo continues to assure us that the Wii U's price will be "reasonable". Speaking to Yomiuri Shimbun, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata explained that Nintendo is not looking to repeat what happened when the 3DS launched at its original price of $250.

"We won't make the same mistake that we did with the 3DS, which was considered relatively high by consumers," said Iwata.

"We've fixed the 3DS profitability issue, and pledge to turn profitable by the end of this fiscal year," he added.

Right now, the comfortable price for the Wii U seems to rest at around $300. Anything lower and the Wii U could flourish, but many analysts agree that anything over $300 will result in the Wii U being a flop.
