NewsSquare-Enix reports profit, led by Deus Ex

After a dismal showing last year, Square-Enix is reporting that they've finally returned to "profitability" for the year that ended March 31. According to the publisher's press release, their recent success is mainly due to Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Final Fantasy XIII-2's strong showings. As you know, Human Revolution kicked off the fall series of triple-A titles last year, which ended up proving to be a worthwhile addition to the beloved Deus Ex. series.
The publisher's profit for this past year totaled $76 million, a major step up from the $160 million lost last year. Overall, Square churned a net revenue of $1.6 billion. In addition to the publisher's impressive fall titles, Square credits their mobile games departments for it's massive rejuvenation.
Unfortunately, Square-Enix isn't out of the woods yet. The current marketing year still looks somewhat gloomy for the company. Hopefully we'll see a selection of titles announced at E3, along with impressive showings for their already announced games that are scheduled to appear in 2012.
