Star Trek video game has unique storyline, lots of explosions
Namco Bandai's upcoming third-person action-adventure Star Trek video game - based off of J.J. Abrams' reboot of the sci-fi classic - will have a unique storyline separate from the Star Trek 2 film.
At today's Global Gamers Day event being held in Las Vegas, Namco gave us a look at the new Star Trek game which will feature a ton of "badass" weapons and co-op gameplay that develops additional storyline between Kirk and Spock.
With God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk working in collaboration with the writers/producers of the new films, the new Star Trek game will accurately represent the films while containing its own unique storyline. In fact, the entire ship was created using assets from the films.
The demo, shown earlier this morning, showed "lots of explosions". According to fellow GZ staff member, Lance Liebl, who is at the event, the demo had a "cinematic feel, awesome combat, and reliant co-op gameplay." Oh, and it also had "lots of explosions". No word on the lens flare, however.
While we'll be sure to get a preview up later on, some few early notes include the tricorder playing a huge role in the game. It advances gameplay and reveals story elements. In addition, each character will have specific weapons that will level up and get new abilities as the game progresses.
Star Trek the video game is looking to release in early 2013, but Namco promised that tons of stuff about the game, including who the enemy is, will be shown at E3 in June this year.
