Today Wizards of the Coast announced Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, a new version of Magic the Gathering coming this summer for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and iPad.

The game makes manual tapping of Lands cards optional and features new decks (including Planechase multiplayer games), puzzle challenges, and boss fights.

"Although Duels of the Planeswalkers is mostly for people who are new to Magic, it's a lot of fun for people who have been playing Magic long enough to know what's what," wrote Monty Ashley.

Wizards also revealed that the final battle will be against dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas, "Magic’s ultimate evil mastermind."
