XSEED Director of Publishing Ken Berry recently gave some insight on the status of The Last Story in North America. Since the announcement that the game would be coming to our region not too long ago, Wii owners have been totally stoked to learn any info regarding the upcoming RPG. It looks like The Last Story will be getting a limited run, which, really, should surprise no one.

"Yes, we do anticipate a limited run for the game as we already have a number in mind of how many units we can expect to sell of this title, and all our pre-production efforts will be geared towards being able to manufacture a final number somewhat close to our initial estimated number," Berry told IGN. "It's too early to start thinking of doing additional runs, but as a general policy we haven't been very active on doing reprints of our other titles so far."

So basically, if you really want to play The Last Story, you should definitely be sure to pre-order it ASAP. The last thing you want happening is for the game to go out of print only for some guy to try to sell it on Amazon for several hundred dollars. I know I'll be putting down my pre-order deposit in the near future, most likely when I get my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles later this week.

You'll be glad to know that XSEED won't be keeping the game contained within a single retailer. Instead, the company wants to have The Last Story available at "any retailer that wishes to stock it." That's definitely great news--the more retailers stocking the highly anticipated RPG, the better.

Oh, and before you come in here thinking this is some April Fools' Day joke, it's not. Just look at the date of the interview. It's from, like, five days ago. So yeah, you might want to pre-order The Last Story posthaste!
