NewsSimCity to require connection to Origin

You may not have to download SimCity from Origin, but the game will require constant connection to EA's digital service while you play.
Lead designer Stone Librande confirmed that fans will be able to download SimCity from various digital distribution platforms, though the list hasn't' been finalized yet.
However, the catch is that the game will be internet-dependent and will force you to be connected to Origin while playing. Librande said the constant connection is necessary due to the game's emphasis on the new multiplayer mode.
Back in February it was revealed that the new SimCity will emphasize multiplayer gameplay where mayors will manage specific regions and will interact with mayors of nearby regions to trade and sell extra resources. It's goal is to create somewhat of a global economy, with leaderboards that relate to economic production or raw material.
