Angry Birds Space flew to the top of the charts in the iTunes App Store when it released yesterday, conquering previous holder Draw Something from OMGPOP. Now an actual, giant Red Bird is positioned to slingshot into outer space from the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington.

To celebrate the game's launch (into the beyond), fans climbed to the top of the landmark. Free desserts were provided courtesy of Food Network's Cupcake Wars finalists.

In addition, T-Mobile is showing its appreciation to customers by partnering with Walmart for a special promotion. At stores, gamers can access “Golden Eggsteroid” clues to unlock a total of four levels, starting on March 25 nationwide. Various Angry Birds merchandise will be connected with the clues.

“The Angry Bird [sic] game series has been wildly popular among T-Mobile customers," said Peter DeLuca, senior vice president of brand, advertising, and corporate communications at T-Mobile USA. "So, starting this weekend, we’re giving them additional exclusive content through our unique promotion within Walmart that extends the entertainment value."

T-Mobile's new Samsung Exhibit II 4G device will also contain a set of hints. Walmart customers can load the T-Mobile Mall app from the device to enter a special virtual portal with more extras.
