Ray Muzyka tells Mass Effect fans to be constructive for they are listening

Now we’ve done it.  Co-Founder of BioWare, Ray Muzyka, has put out an official statement about the Mass Effect 3 endings.  For those who think BioWare isn’t listening, they are, they always do.  The question if BioWare will change the ending or if they decide not to is still up in the air – but they are in fact listening.

If you’re in the boat with those upset about the Mass Effect 3 ending, you definitely should read this official statement by Ray Muzyka.  Even if you’re not enraged by the ending, you should check the statement out.  I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a huge ME fan boy and that I felt cheated by the ending.  The game, in my opinion, is nearly perfect but the ending did leave a poor taste in my mouth.

Muzyka is very proud of his ME3 team, he goes as far to say that “Mass Effect 3 is the best work we’ve yet created.”  He continues with, “So, it’s incredibly painful to receive feedback from our core fans that the game’s endings were not up to their expectations. Our first instinct is to defend our work and point to the high ratings offered by critics – but out of respect to our fans, we need to accept the criticism and feedback with humility.”

With this said, Ray Muzyka says that while BioWare is interested in positive feedback, they do not need all the destructive responses.  In a nut shell, if you want something fixed or changed – don’t say why it sucked but say how it could have been improved.  Constructive feedback is always better; folk are always more willing to listen to logic than rage.

As of now, BioWare is looking into a way to bring more closure to the story, “We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.  This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue.”

This is a pretty big deal / point.  There absolutely needs to be a balance between keeping the game’s original integrity and pleasing the majority of fans.  This is where the difficulty comes in at this stage of the game.  I also feel that Muzyka focuses too heavily on the scores critics are gives the game – which are insanely and justifiably high.  The rage isn’t towards the game though, the game is great.  It is the ending people are unhappy with.

My suggestions, if you want to see some sort up update, patch, free DLC, or message written in the sky – be constructive.  I can see the counter argument already and I agree, ‘It shouldn’t have even come to this.’  Sadly it did though.  I have faith in BioWare to follow through with what Muzyka is saying here.  At this point we have to wait until April to see what they come up with.  That’s not too far off… right?  Chins up.
