NewsiPad 3 sells 3 million units in four days
In only four days, customers have purchased more than 3 million units of the new iPad 3 available from Apple, making last Friday's launch the most successful one yet in the device's history.
“Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can't wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday," said Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
The new model is available in ten select countries, including the US and Canada, and will reach customers in 24 more locations starting this Friday, March 23 through the Apple Online Store. Editions include Wi-Fi models in black or white design for a retail price of $499 for the 16 GB model, $599 for 32 GB, and $699 for 64 GB, or editions with Wi-Fi and 4G network capabilities for $629, $729, and $829, respectively.
Apple previously reported that the response to the iPad 3 during its opening weekend was "off the charts."
Here in the US, prospective buyers can find the iPad 3 at a variety of retailers, such as Best Buy, Radio Shack, Sam's Club, Target, and Walmart. Brave the long lines at an Apple store, however, and enjoy the perks of free set-up and customization services.
