Microsoft Studios recruits former Sony executive Phil Harrison
On Tuesday, Microsoft revealed that Phil Harrison, a former Sony executive, had banded with the company's Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) division as the new corporate vice president. Harrison will be helping to expand the division's European end.
“I am excited to be joining the senior team at Microsoft at a pivotal time for our industry," said Harrison. "I am really impressed with the company’s long-term vision for growing the market for interactive entertainment globally and also with the incredible wealth of talent, technology and resources the company has available to succeed."
Harrison will act as senior leader and make decisions that will affect the performance of IEB's European business by forming strategic partnerships and bringing fresh entertainment to the company's platforms.

"[Harrison] is one of video gaming’s true visionaries, and his experience overseeing global studios and deep industry relationships make him the ideal person to lead our European efforts. The video games luminary is particularly influential in the mobile and social markets. He will steer future development efforts for the company and oversee developers Lionhead Studios, Soho Productions, and Rare, whose headquarters are located in the UK.
