NewsKilling in Assassin's Creed III will start within '30 seconds' of playing
Assassin's Creed III is going to throw you right into the action, revealed the game's creative director Alex Hutchinson.
"Within 30 seconds of putting the disc in the tray, you'll be assassinating someone," Hutchinson said at GDC.
The early action is just one of the guidelines the developer is following in order to ensure the company's focus on keeping the game relevant and gratifying.
Assassin's Creed III, though technically a sequel, will "clear the decks" of existing fantasy by introducing a new setting and new hero. By removing the former hero, Ezio, and placing the new game in America in the 18th century, Ubisoft is removing the need for people to be familiar with the previous Assassin's Creed games.
Rather than fictional characters, the new game will be aimed at "real people" and will "leverage the real world as much as possible". As seen in leaked screenshots and early videos, Assassin's Creed III will take place during the American revolution and include historic figures like George Washington. According to Hutchinson these characters come "loaded with meaning" and are characters that players are excited to meet.
The introduction of the new character, Connor, will also allow Ubisoft to remove gameplay mechanics the studio wasn't happy with.
"It's hard when the story consistent, to remove things," said Hutchinson "You can't remove things from the fiction, and that meant we had problem with mechanics that weren't as tight as could have been... a new character and new universe means we can strip it back and go back to basics."
By taking place in a new setting, players will be able to experience key historical moments like the great fire of New York or Washington's time at Valley Forge.
Assassin's Creed III is due out October 30th and is said to be "the biggest launch in Ubisoft history."
