NewsApple expected to unveil iPad 3 today at 10am PST
Apple is expected to make their big iPad 3 announcement today.
Last week, Apple sent out emails to journalists, inviting them to a private event behind held in San Francisco today. The invitation read: "We have something you really have to see. And touch."
This, with the rumored reports of a March iPad 3 unveiling, has led to speculation that the iPad 3 will be debuted today.
The event, and alleged iPad 3 unveiling, is to take place today, March 7th, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
A leaked shipping document revealed shipments began on February 26th from Apple supplier Foxconn to the United States, with initial U.S. deliveries expected to begin March 9th.
No one knows exactly what the iPad 3 will pack in terms of features, but multiple sources have confirmed the same rumors of a Retina display with a 1536x2048 resolution, which is twice the resolution of the current iPad 2 screen. The next-gen iPad is also rumored to feature 4G LTE support, have a higher resolution camera than the iPad 2, feature Apple secretary Siri, which could all lead to a possible $80 price hike.
iPad 3 rumors and speculation have led to a boom in Apple's value which currently sits at $536.80 (via). If the next-gen iPad is announced today I'm sure that number will only climb.
Last month, Apple reported the company's fiscal 2012 first quarter revenue was $46.34 billion, up 73% compared to last year's fourth quarter report. Apple set all-time records company records, selling 37.04 million iPhones and 15.43 million iPads in the quarter.
