NewsKillzone 3 multiplayer to be released for free on PS3
Sony has plans to release the Killzone 3 multiplayer as a free download next week, according to the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast.
Fans should be able to download the multiplayer portion of the PS3 exclusive FPS for free from the PlayStation Network as early as Tuesday of next week.
The Killzone 3 multiplayer will go free on Tuesday, February 28th in the U.S., with it presumably launching the next day in Europe.
There is a catch, however. While all of the maps will be offered for free, there is an unspecified level cap - meaning there will be a limit on what rank you can achieve as well as on the number of skills and unlockable weapons available.
If you do choose to upgrade from the free experience, you can pay $14.99 to unlock the full Killzone 3 multiplayer.
This is actually a pretty smart idea from Sony, and hopefully it's something that they continue to implement. For those of you not necessarily in the singleplayer portion of the game, you can enjoy just the multiplayer.
