Sony's relatively new PlayStation Vita is getting a major update on Wednesday, February 8th. The 1.6 system update adds a few features including a new Map app, the ability to take  video, and  a new MAC OS version of its Content Management Assistant.

Following the update, the new Map app will be found on the Home screen where you'll be able to see your positional and directional information on the map.  Using this app you can search for walking and driving directions and view details about your current location.  It also has a satellite imagery feature which can be turned on or off.

In addition, the new update will add the ability for the Vita's photo app to now take videos.  Currently, the app only allows for regular pictures.

Aside from the firmware, the PlayStation Vita 1.6 update will release a MAC OS version of its Content Management Assistant for the handheld, allowing users to transfer data between a computer and the device.

Of course, this update will reflect the recently announced name change from the "PlayStation Network Account" to the "Sony Entertainment Network Account".
