NewsMass Effect 3 demo requires Xbox LIVE Gold Membership
The Mass Effect 3 demo may be available before the release of the actual game, but that doesn't mean everyone will be able to enjoy. Answering fan questions on the BioWare forums, developer Chris Priestly confirmed the Xbox 360 users will need an Xbox LIVE Gold membership to play the Mass Effect 3 demo.
But before you ready the pitchforks, he also revealed that the demo of Mass Effect 3 will include a limited time Gold access when you download the demo.
Priestly quoted Microsoft directly, saying:
In celebration of ME3, Xbox is pleased to provide fans access to ME3 demo multiplayer for the time leading to launch. Xbox LIVE Gold gives you exclusive benefits including multiplayer gaming, member-only deals & previews, and access to entertainment with Netflix, ESPN, Hulu Plus and more.
So in other words, the Gold membership requirement won't really have any effect on the Mass Effect 3 demo, since everyone will have limited time access to Xbox LIVE Gold.
The upcoming demo, scheduled for February 14th, is said to go deep into the campaign and give players a taste of the brand new co-op multiplayer mode. It is also one of the first pre-launch demos to support full voice recognition functionality on Kinect for Xbox 360.
