Thanks to a deal between Nintendo UK and Boingo Wirless, Nintendo 3DS users flying through the UK will have access to free Boingo hotspots at some of the UK's largest airports.

According to the announcement today, the 3DS will automatically connect to Boingo's network in many UK airports including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted as well as Glasgow, Edinburge and Aberdeen.  This new agreement will allow you to engage in SpotPass as well as browse the internet using the Nintendo 3DS Internet Browser.

In all honesty, this is a great move on behalf of Nintendo.  With sales for the Nintendo 3DS surging, this added partnership could lead to even more users picking up the handheld.  Going on a trip?  This might be a good way to keep the kids busy in the airport.  Heck, with free wi-fi, this may even be an affordable way for adults to surf the internet while in the terminal.

Dawn Paine, Assistant General Manager & Director of Marketing at Nintendo UK had this to say:

“Boingo is an excellent partner for Nintendo 3DS owners in the United Kingdom due to an extensive airport Wi-Fi network.  This partnership announcement comes at a great time for Nintendo 3DS owners, as the latest System Update** has brought in an array of new features and enhancements including 3D video capture.  Whether you want to shoot your own mini blockbuster or simply capture your special family moments, you can now record up to ten minutes of 3D video in the palm of your hands.”
