NewsDiablo 3 for consoles not confirmed by Blizzard after all
I believe the expression is, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch." Many, including us, were led to believe that Blizzard was working on a console version of Diablo 3. After all, all of the evidence is there.
Let's recap:
First we had lead designer Josh Mosqueira announcing at Gamescom that Blizzard was "very, very serious abuot bringing the Diablo 3 experience to the console...[we're] looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to console."
Combined with job postings from Blizzard searching for someone to "design, implement, and maintain networking related game systems for the console game." The postition, of course, was for the Diablo team.
The icing on the cake came yesterday, when Community Manager Micah Whipple CONFIRMED to a fan, "Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project."
As it turns out, even with all of the evidence pointing towards a console version of Diablo 3, Blizzard still refuses to admit they are working on one.
A Blizzard spokesperson clarified that Whipple's tweet was only "intended as a confirmation that [Blizzard] is actively exploring the possibility of developing a console version of Diablo 3."
The spokesperson added, "This is not a confirmation that Diablo 3 is coming to any console platform. Our focus right now is on finishing the PC/Mac version of Diablo 3 and making sure it's a worthwhile successor to the series."
