Play-Asia.com, the popular online shopping store for the latest Japanese, Hong Kong, and Asian video games and accessories, has dropped the price of the PlayStation Vita by nearly $100.  Originally priced for $525, the PS Vita wi-fi model is now being sold on the site for $459 - about $75 cheaper.

The PlayStation Vita released in Japan on December 17th, while those in the U.S. and Europe must wait until February 22, 2012.  However, with no region-lock on the Vita, those outside of Japan are still able to order it and get it before the actual release date - if you're willing to part with that amount of money.

The site currently claims that the PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi model is in stock and usually ships within 24 hours.  For those who had already purchased the Vita for original price, it seems like their out of luck.  Although, people on the site do suggest they write to the retailer.

Of course if you are willing to wait, you can get the PS Vita for a more reasonable price.  When the Vita does release in the U.S. you can get the Wi-Fi version for $249.99, or the Vita with Wi-Fi and 3G for $299.99.

Overall, the launch sales numbers for the PS Vita have been less then impressive, with about 320,000 units selling in the opening weekend.  It's not a bad number, but far from the early predictions and high expectations for the mobile device.  Despite posting worse numbers in opening weekend than the rival Nintendo 3DS, some analysts predict the PlayStation Vita 3-month sales will end up being ahead of the 3DS.
